Dagorhir is a foam-weapon fighting organization. Groups of like-minded individuals gather together for events, whether they be simple fighter practices, or the large national battles that field 100's (soon to be 1000's) of people. Not everyone is required to fight, but that is the "main course" of every event. The battles range from one-on-one tournaments to massive melees with hundreds of people on each side. The bigger battles often have themes, such as castle sieges, bridge battles, or capture-the-flag games.
The fighters in any battle wield padded weapons, made of foam and other materials. Some carry shields (also well padded for safety), and some even wear real armour. "Kills" are scored by hitting your opponent while defending against other fighters on the field. All gear must pass inspection before an event to be sure that it is safe and in working condition.
To participate in Dagorhir events, all attendees must be at least 16 years old and must sign a waiver. The physical aspect of the game can be as grueling as any football or hockey game, and people need to be aware of this before they get involved.

Winterfell is a chapter of Dagorhir; teaching, fighting and promoting knowledge of medieval (realistic as well as fantastic) martial and civil skills. It is a melting pot of Dagorhir; a conglomeration of different units and chapters. A home away from home for many of its members; and a home for others.
Many of the current membership of Winterfell consists of long-term Dagorhir members, from various chapters across the US. Because of this we represent a good cross section of different fighting styles, techniques and backgrounds; and despite our relatively small membership, we have experience in many of the skills useful to a chapter, both on and off the field of battle, and are willing to teach others what we know.
